How to swap BTC to USDT
Choose the USDT network
Pick the version your receiving wallet or exchange supports. Check their deposit page if you’re not sure.
Paste the matching address
T… for Tron, 0x… for Ethereum or BNB Chain. If the format doesn’t match the network, stop.
Send BTC
Send the exact amount to the deposit address. A normal fee is fine. A very low fee just delays everything.
Receive USDT
After the BTC deposit confirms, USDT arrives within a minute or two on Tron, a few minutes on Ethereum.
The mistake on this pair: picking a network your wallet can’t see
TRC-20 is popular because it’s cheap. But if you paste a MetaMask address, which starts with 0x, you’re on the wrong network. MetaMask doesn’t support Tron.
The reverse happens too: someone picks ERC-20 and pastes an exchange address meant for Tron deposits.
Simple rule: decide where the USDT will live first, open that wallet’s receive screen, and pick the network it shows.
Fixed or floating for BTC to USDT?
Fixed. You’re swapping into a stablecoin to lock in a dollar value, so a floating rate that drifts during a 30-minute Bitcoin confirmation defeats the purpose.
The small extra cost of fixed is the price of knowing your exact USDT figure up front.

Which USDT network should I receive on?
The one your receiving wallet or exchange supports. Tron (TRC-20) is cheap to move later. Ethereum (ERC-20) works with MetaMask and most DeFi apps.
How do I know if an address is TRC-20 or ERC-20?
TRC-20 addresses start with a capital T. ERC-20 and BEP-20 addresses start with 0x. If it doesn’t match the network you picked, don’t continue.
Can I send the USDT straight to an exchange?
Yes. Use the exchange’s USDT deposit address for the same network. If the exchange shows a memo field for that network, include it.
How long does BTC to USDT take?
Usually 20 to 40 minutes, almost all of it waiting for the Bitcoin deposit to confirm.
What fees do I pay?
The Bitcoin network fee for your deposit. The exchange fee is built into the rate, and the USDT payout fee is covered.
Is USDT safe to hold?
USDT is issued by Tether and is meant to track the US dollar, backed by reserves Tether reports on at tether.to. It’s not a bank deposit, so there’s issuer risk.
Can I get USDC instead?
If the widget lists USDC, yes. Choose it as the coin to receive and check the network the same way.
What if I send less than the minimum?
The deposit can’t be processed automatically. Contact the partner’s support with your swap ID to request a refund.
